  • Nader Iskander, MBA ’97 Duke University, USA.  Bsc Computer Science ‘89, American University Of Cairo

After completing his MBA , Nader left the family business and returned to create his first startup ( EMEIT)  in 1998  , the first Microsoft Business Solutions partner. Currently ranked as one of the leading Microsoft partners in the region, EMEIT has led hundreds of clients in the journey of implementing complex Microsoft financial, distribution and manufacturing software solutions. This process involves continuous culture adaptation, consulting, delivery skills and process development while absorbing different industries, co-managing internal adoption, process re-engineering and resistance to change in the customer environment.

In 2004, Nader created his second start up ( EME International ) focusing on its fully developed enterprise mobile apps. This was very early in the industry. Coupled with global awards for innovation, EME pioneered solutions in mobile payment, employee and consumer engagement apps and  mobile sales force automation solutions. As a result, our technology was recently acquired by Fawry, ( the largest payment gateway in Egypt ) in their recent exit which valued Fawry at 100 million dollars. EME is now a shareholder and a vendor concurrently. The challenges in this business include how to sustain it while pioneering the market, how to build a continuous process for innovation, robust customer support, scaling operations at speed while investing in R&D, manufacturing, marketing, selling and support. Finally, attracting and developing talent , coupled with retention strategies as competitors started to enter this field is a source of sustainable competitive advantage. EME is considered the regional leader with one of the few exits in the fintech space in the whole region with customers in 9 countries.

In 2006, Nader created MIT, the first experiential/executive coaching company in Egypt, building the first ropes course training facility in the region covering 4 acres. Clients were mainly multinational companies such as P&G, Orascom, Orange telecom and others. Nader’s role involved conducting numerous group coaching exercises to executives covering a wide range of theme including team dynamics, leadership challenges and development, Intranpreneurship, culture transformation & change management. This involved several speaking /training engagements in parallel too. Nader is also trained as an executive coach by the college of executive coaching, USA and currently coaches executives/entrepreneurs on a one to one basis.

In 2017, Nader’s vision of many years came to fruit. Serving the middle class in Egypt, we ( 3 co-founders) created a new chain of primary care medical clinics “Dawi“ to disrupt the healthcare industry in Egypt by combining technology, service industry best practices in customer service processes, shifting paradigm shift in consumer and doctor’s eyes,  continuous process audit,  and branding the chain , rather than the doctor, to create an effective , affordable, scalable and profitable model. Currently we have four clinics operating with a major expansion plan.

In parallel, Nader spoke at Tedex in Egypt, served as co-chair at the Amercian chamber of commerce innovation and entrepreneurship committee. Nader also mentors several start ups and is an investor in several inside and outside of Egypt. Nader acted as executive chairman of the family business ( created in 1975 ) during the turbulent years of the Arab spring in order to guide in steering this entity ( over 400 employees across 12 branches) and still maintains this role.

Nader is particularly passionate about taking companies and individuals to the next level towards peak performance attainment, high impact leadership development, change management, cultural transformation and strategic digital disruption. Public speaking, training, coaching, and leading/co-leading workshops at different levels of management and across cultures, is a continuous source of inspiration.

  • As Founder and CEO of Fetchr, Idriss Al Rifai leads one of the fastest growing start-ups in the Middle East. A firm believer in the power of technology, he has championed the introduction of disruptive innovations in traditional supply chain and logistics. His goal is to solve the ‘no address’ problem in the GCC and other emerging markets, making delivery a seamless and hassle-free experience for customers. Under his leadership, Fetchr has grown 400% from 2014 to 2018 and has expanded services to 6 markets – UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Oman and Jordan – with a launch imminent in Kuwait. With ‘Customer First’ as one of the company’s cornerstone values, he has inspired his team of more than 3000 employees to work towards putting a smile on the customer’s face.

Despite facing numerous challenges when he first started Fetchr - from attracting and making clients think ahead of the curve, to making sure the product and software improved at the right pace as well as sourcing quality talent and fundraising, he has persevered and spearheaded the new age of revolution in Middle Eastern logistics. Armed with determination and a clear long-term vision, Fetchr became the first Middle Eastern company to raise Series-A funding from a top Silicon Valley VC – New Enterprise Associates (NEA), the world’s largest Venture Capital fund – in 2015. Two years later, the company raised a Series-B funding of $41M led by both NEA and regional powerhouse, Majid Al Futtaim Group. Having secured funding from other famous names such as Nokia Growth Partners and Beco Capital, and been decorated with several awards, Idriss has made sure Fetchr remains a forerunner for Middle Eastern start-ups to grow and secure capital from across the world.

Previously, Idriss headed operations for MarkaVIP, the then second largest e-commerce player in the MENA region, where he built an in-house logistics department for the company to expedite deliveries. Prior to this, he worked as a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group. From 2002 to 2008, he worked with the French Ministry of Defence in various capacities and received several accolades for his leadership roles in Asia and Africa. He was part of the French U-19 National Basketball team from 1999 to 2003.

Idriss holds an MBA from the University of Chicago – Booth School of Business and a Master’s Degree in Political Science from Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po). He is also a Rath and Fulbright scholar, and an Endeavor entrepreneur. He aspires to make addresses obsolete and empower the more than 2 billion people that live without structured addresses to receive anything, anywhere on the go.
